Terms of Service
Last updated: April 7, 2026
Welcome to PassForge. By accessing or using passforge.dev ("the Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. What PassForge Provides
PassForge offers a collection of free, browser-based security and privacy tools including password generators, hash generators, a breach checker, JWT decoder, TOTP generator, and related utilities. All tools run client-side — computations happen in your browser, not on our servers.
2. Intended Use
Our tools are intended for lawful, personal, and authorized professional use. You may use the password generator to create passwords for your own accounts. You may use the breach checker to verify whether your own credentials have been exposed. You may use the hash generator to hash data you have the right to process. You must not use any tool on this site for unauthorized access to systems, for cracking passwords you do not own, or for any activity that violates applicable law.
3. Breach Checker Disclaimer
The Breach Checker queries the Have I Been Pwned range API using the k-anonymity model. Only a partial hash prefix is transmitted — your full password hash is never sent. A "not found" result means the password was not present in the datasets currently indexed by that API; it does not guarantee the password has never been compromised elsewhere. You should always use unique passwords and enable multi-factor authentication regardless of breach check results.
4. No Security Guarantee
While we strive to implement strong cryptographic practices (Argon2id, bcrypt, scrypt via WebAssembly, Web Crypto API for random number generation), PassForge does not guarantee that any password, key, or hash generated by our tools is unbreakable. Security depends on many factors beyond password generation, including how you store and transmit credentials. Our tools are provided as aids, not as certified security solutions.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Site and all tools are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the tools will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PassForge and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Site or its tools. This includes, without limitation, damages for loss of data, unauthorized access resulting from weak passwords, or reliance on breach check results. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to use the Site (which is zero, because our tools are free).
7. Intellectual Property
The PassForge name, logo, and website design are our property. The passwords, hashes, keys, and other outputs generated by our tools belong to you — we claim no ownership over anything our tools produce for you. You are free to use generated output however you see fit.
8. Third-Party Services
Certain tools may interact with third-party APIs (for example, the breach checker uses the Have I Been Pwned API, and the SSL checker may query external certificate transparency logs). We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or privacy practices of third-party services. Your use of features that rely on external APIs is also subject to those services' own terms.
9. Advertising
The Site displays advertisements through Google AdSense. These ads help us keep every tool free. Ad content is controlled by Google, not by PassForge. We are not responsible for the content of third-party advertisements.
10. Modifications
We may update these terms at any time. Changes take effect when posted to this page. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. We recommend checking this page periodically.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in a court of competent jurisdiction.
